A naturopath is a specialist trained in separate and distinct treatment modalities that use non-invasive assessment techniques and complementary natural medicines.  The main thrust of naturopathic practice is the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself.  The role of a naturopath is to work with you to promote the natural healing powers of your body.  Naturopathy is rooted in the belief that health is more than just the absence of disease and works on strengthening the body’s natural defences.

What to expect

A naturopathic consultation commences with gaining an understanding of your current health profile. This includes questions about your health history and if required, a number of non-invasive tests in order to establish your health profile. If necessary, you may be advised to seek pathology laboratory tests through your medical general practitioner. The specific details of your condition are then discussed in order to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs taking into consideration your personal and financial situation. You will not be subjected to unnecessary purchases.

In preparation for your first consultation please bring all relevant documents concerning your health, such as details of current medication, supplementation (vitamins / minerals), X-rays, pathology test reports, blood tests etc.

Together, we then develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific health status, needs and wants.

You’ll get answers to most of your questions; advice about your current regime of complementary and over the counter medicines.  E.g. where your combined intake of a specific supplement may far exceed recommended daily intake; is superfluous, or missing.

The consultation leaves you with an informed appreciation of your current health profile and a self-administered treatment plan.  Your treatment plan may include and is not limited to options and recommendations regarding:

  • life style
  • dietary intake
  • supplementation
  • over the counter medicines
  • gastrointestinal tract maintenance, and
  • herbal formulae to address health conditions that you may seek to improve, just to name a few.
